The expedition around Lake Baikal for the complex sampling and the study of the sociological situation around the lake took place since 29th May to 12 June. The samples was collected on the five cross-sections (in three stations for each), 14 stations of slit, Selenga and … shallows, Maloe-More strait, Barguzin and Chivyrkui Bays, in large tributaries of the lake (sampling map). Gallup poll was done in 7 settlements: Listvyanka, Bugul’deika, MRS, Kurbulik, Baikal’skoe, Nizhneangarsk and Khuzhir.

The 19th International Diatom Symposium-2006 took place since 28th August to 3rd September in Listvyanka near Lake Baikal.

Two Ph.D. students of our department (E.G. Sorokovikova and Firsova A.D.) took part in III All-Russian scientific school of the young scientists- paleontologists “Modern paleontology: classic and up-to-date methods” taking place in Moscow on basis of Paleontology Institute of RAS since 3rd to 5th October 2006. Our girls got diplomae for the best reports. Moreover memorable certification were got. Thesis of reports were published.
