Michael A. Grachev, Real Member (Academician) of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the USSR State Prize winner.

Michael Grachev has been working at the Russian Academy of Sciences for over 50 years. Since 1987 he is Director of Limnological Institute SB RAS. In 1999, he was awarded with the Order of Friendship.

M. Grachev is a leading scientist in the field of bioorganic chemistry, physico- chemical biology and ecology. His major scientific interest is molecular evolution of the endemic flora and fauna of Lake Baikal in the context of geological events.
