On August 15, a scientific school began work on Lake Baikal, organized as part of an expedition on the board R/V Akademik Koptyug

The program combines lectures by leading experts in the evolution, systematics, and molecular phylogeny of freshwater organisms with daily fieldwork. Participants learn practical techniques for collecting hydrobiological samples, preserving and identifying specimens, as well as mastering light microscopy and morphometric analysis.

The expedition is led by Dmitry Yuryevich Shcherbakov.
