On June 3, the Baikal Scientific and Commercial Council of the Baikal Fisheries Basin was held at LIN SB RAS

V.I. Sokolov, Deputy Head of the Federal Agency for Fisheries (Rosrybolovstvo), presided over the meeting of the Baikal Scientific and Commercial Council (BSCC) of the Baikal Fisheries Basin.

Representatives of the ministries of Irkutsk region, Zabaikalsky Krai and the Republic of Buryatia, State Scientific Center of the FSBSI VNIRO, Angara-Baikal Territorial Administration of the Federal Agency for Fisheries, Baikal branch of FSBI Glavrybvod, as well as the scientific community took part in the work of the Council.

The following reports were presented during the meeting:

  • execution of BSCC decisions for 2025;
  • work results on artificial reproduction of the Baikal omul and plans to assess its reserves in 2026;
  • implementation of measures stipulated by the Matrix of tasks for accounting the number and ensuring the conservation of aquatic biological resources of Lake Baikal.

Besides, preliminary results on the Selenga population research of the Baikal omul conducted by LIN SB RAS on May 26-30, 2026, were presented.
